Ford ZETEC 2.0 Caterham 7
We took our Caterham 7 to Troy on our way home to Mallorca. It was running poorly on Weber 45's. An afternoon with him and 136 hp went to 159.8 hp ! Great service and friendly people. Many thanks :-)
Atlantis Midget 1600GT Full Dyno set up/Running in.
It was an all round excellent experience. Troy and his staff really looked after us whilst we were able to look on and observe. I learned a lot from the day watching Troy and his guys do what they do best. Northampton motor sports premises are top notch being comfortable and light.

Rover GTi T16 Turbo Mapping
Troy has new premises for maintaining or modifying your car professionally. There is a dedicated dyno cell and an excellent well laid out clean workshop. The workshop was full of cars undergoing work, and its a busy place! Our car required careful mapping as its a modified rover T16 engine with stock turbo used for hill climbs and sprints. Troy's attention to detail is second to none, as has been proven with an exceptional performance by us at the Gurston Hill Climb four days later. The car proved highly competitive and reliable thanks to the mapping performed by Troy. Many Thanks. John and Alison.
Good results on my Westfield
I have just had my Westfield upgraded and repaired. Troy was very helpfull and honest. There was a bit of an issue with getting the cam shafts, but when they eventually arrived they were fitted quickly. The car was upgraded from 132bhp to 170bhp and it is like a new car.
Very pleased with the results.
Westfield Duratec 2 Litre Map
I had my Duratec Westfield SEi mapped at Northampton Motorsport yesterday and was very happy with the outcome.
I was unable to run the engine in as I had an unmatched set of components (Weber Alpha ECU and Cosworth Roller Barrels).
Troy spotted why the car was running so rich because I had used the Ford standard wiring on the TPS and as the Roller barrels rotate in the opposite direction to the standard throttle bodies I was amazed the engine ran at all.
The next problem was that the Alpha ECU could not use the standard Water Temperature sender (lady luck stepped in as Troy had a spare).
As the engine ran in anger for the first time the problems really started to kick in:-
1) Oil Leaks (I had not fitted the three engine mount bolts into the front chain case but this was soon sorted by NMS).
2) Water Leaks (Silicone Hoses not tight enough).
3) Fuel Leak (solved by replacing some braded hose).
4) Electrical Fault on ECU connection (my poor last minute wiring).
By the time all this was sorted I was already way overtime on my allotted slot on the Rolling Road.
A lesser mortal than Troy would have thrown the towel in by this stage but he soldiered on resulting in a lovely flat torque curve thanks to Troy’s mapping and the 4 > 2 > 1 exhaust made by Simpsons.

Ford GT40 Mapping Improvements
Troy made a very thorough and professional and sensibly priced job of working through the Motec maps and filling in the holes. The result has given apparent drivability improvement and a much more responsive, snappier feel to the motor. Without hesitation I can thoroughly recommend Northampton Motorsport.
Caterham Zetec 2 liter tuning
Took my new toy to Troy, Amanda and Steve to prepare for our long trip home - York to Mallorca. Troy went through the car, repaired the twin Webber 45's and improved the hp by some 15% !!! Terrific service and I will , rods and pistons.return in September to have the head done, new cams
Took my XE powered kit car to
Took my XE powered kit car to Troy after a couple of attempts with another rolling road who couldn't get it to run right at low speed and the car seemed down on power. Cars running an MBE set up with jenvey throttle bodies , cams and a mild head job . 3 hours later car runs like a dream , perfect at low speeds and have gained a chunk more power at the top end . Very satisfied customer.
Straight talking, good value
Straight talking, good value for money and nice to see that no wild power claims were made. Gave the XE to them unable to idle with lumpy power delivery, received it back purring like a kitten, smooth to drive and good power from the standardish engine. Like a changed car. Very pleased.
