Reviews of Track 'N' Road
Poor Attitude
I didn't take my car in to have my ego massaged, but common politeness would have been enough.
I found Steve extremely rude and arrogant. Of the three hours I was there he spent only one working on my car, the rest of the time he was either on the phone or talking to his colleague or other visitors, even being insulting about my choice of components to one.
Then told me at the end that the tune up took as long as a full re-mapping.
After the car came off the rollers I asked how it had done, his answer was amazing for someone who obviously thinks he knows everything, (I paraphrase here) "I've no idea what the readings should be" .
All I wanted was a bit of help and advise and got ignorance and basic rudeness.
He may be good at his job, I'll never really know, but he could really brush up on his people skills.
Very Helpful
The Steve's were both very helpful and knowledgeable, even when presented with a dodgy old VW to map the DTA equipped 2110cc air-cooled engine.
Engine ran smoother, faster pickup and much better idle settings. MPG will hopefully also prove to be much improved too as the old map was extremely rich most of the time.
A+ - but Heartbreaker dyno!
The Steves's tell it like it is. You won't get any BS which doesn't suit some. If you want your ego massaged then go elsewhere, but if you want a standard of care which is second to none, Track n Road is your place.
From power runs (accurate, not pub talk) to full setup track and road have done it all for me, and then some. I've been visiting track n road for the last few years with several cars and all have come away amazingly well setup. The last car is magazine featured and one of the most powerful proven Peugeot 106's in the world. All in a days work for Track n' Road.
Price wise they're competitive but go WAY beyond what you'd get elsewhere service wise - several times I've had complications and the guys have stayed late (beyond midnight) to get it fixed. In one case I was there for full mapping the day before a trip to the Nurburgring and we had to perform a relap of a valve in the spot - tools lent, tea brewed, and mapping STARTED at 1am! Car then drove to germany and back thanks to the dedication of Track N Road.
In summary, you'll get the best setup money can buy here but you won't get you dick sucked to make you feel better. If you bring a bag o shite 1.4 nova and expect to get 500bhp, best to move on! If you want to win your race series and get 40+ years of combined engine building, dyno operation and setup advice, give Steve a call.
I had a different experience
I had a different experience and I have to say they were very good indeed.
Although they were running late (which I was warned about) they still stayed on until it was done and gave me a very well mapped engine.
These guys know what they are doing.
I can't comment on the
I can't comment on the rolling road itself as I left in disgust. I arrived early for my booking, was completely ignored for half an hour and was only spoken to when I asked how much longer I would have to wait (the preceding car was still on the rollers 15 minutes after I was due on). I was abruptly told I didn't have a booking (I did) and I was being "squeezed in". Then when I asked how much longer I would have to wait was told it would take 40 minutes to strap my car on as it was "crap" (a TVR).
Steve Greenald was very good when I booked and afterward. Shame the guy running the RR doesn't have any manners.
